Bowling: Whats the difference between a professional ball and a performance ball?

There really isn't any difference, the only difference is the terminology that differnent websites use to describe certain balls. A "performance" ball or a "professional" ball will almost certainly be on the higher end of any company's line of equipment. You may not want to shell out $150-$200 for one of these balls if it is your first ball and you have only been bowling for a few weeks. I would recomend starting with something in the middle. Many sites would call these "mid-priced" or maybe "entry level". These balls will have a reactive coverstock, not plastic, and will be a good place to start without costing you too much.
